BEIJING, Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation is deepening its cooperation with Singapore to jointly develop the Sino-Singapore Jinan Future Industrial City.

The partnership will promote closer collaboration in trade and economic development, science and technology, and cultural exchanges between the two sides, making it a compelling example of local cooperation between China and Singapore.

Covering a planned area of 66 square kilometers, the Sino-Singapore Jinan Future Industrial City is Shandong Province’s first dedicated platform for substantive cooperation with Singapore. The project focuses on three major future industries — future information, future energy, and future space — as well as the development of future cities.

Guided by the vision of becoming a new benchmark for China-Singapore local cooperation, a new hub for future industries, a new frontier for high-level opening-up, and a new model for green and low-carbon urban development, the Future Industrial City aims to create a platform for bilateral local cooperation that responds to global trends and meets the needs of both sides.

Since 2025, the development of the Future Industrial City has been incorporated into 12 provincial- and municipal-level policy documents. The two sides have held 11 major exchange events, with Singaporean delegations making 23 visits to the area.

Through joint efforts of both sides, the Start-up Area and Singapore have made significant progress in cooperation in areas such as investment promotion, technological innovation, and talent development.

The Shandong (Singapore) Enterprise Service Center has been established, providing a one-stop, comprehensive service platform for trade and economic exchanges between the two sides, offering end-to-end support ranging from domestic and overseas services to business development and empowerment. To date, the center has successfully attracted 103 companies to register and establish a presence there.

Scientific and technological innovation represents a major area of common interest and cooperation between China and Singapore. In July 2024, the Jinan-NTU Green Technology Research Institute was officially inaugurated in the Start-up Area. Jointly established by Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, Shandong University, and the Management Committee of the Jinan Start-up Area, the institute focuses on cutting-edge fields of green technology.

Since its establishment, the institute has made initial progress in areas such as sustainable health and aging, green mobility, and smart healthcare.
