Advancing Onboard Intelligence for Public Transportation

As public transportation becomes increasingly connected and data-driven, vehicles and transit systems are processing growing volumes of camera and sensor data in real time. Edge AI enables data to be analyzed closer to where it is generated, reducing dependence on cloud connectivity and supporting faster detection, analysis, and response.

"Public transportation is moving toward real-time, onboard intelligence, where vehicles need to understand and respond to their surroundings as conditions change," said Kevin Hsu, CEO of SINTRONES. "Our focus is to bring AI computing closer to cameras, sensors, and vehicles, combining real-time intelligence with the reliability required for transportation environments."

In-Vehicle Intelligence for Connected Transportation — VBOX-3631

Powered by Intel® Core™ Series 3 processors with an integrated NPU, the VBOX-3631 in-vehicle computer extends edge AI processing to vehicle-level computing and analytics. The platform combines AI processing, vehicle connectivity, and expansion capabilities for applications including fleet management, intelligent navigation, vehicle analytics, passenger information systems, and real-time transportation monitoring.

Real-Time Hazard Detection for Transit Safety — IBOX-602P-IP66

Built for exposed transportation environments, the IBOX-602P-IP66 rugged edge AI computer features an IP66-rated fanless enclosure with M12 connectivity and 9–60V DC input. Powered by NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ NX with dual GMSL-2 camera support, it will run a school-bus safety application at APTA EXPO, identifying people and potential hazards around the vehicle in real time. The system also supports EN 50155 and E-Mark requirements.

Real-Time Distance Awareness in a Compact Design — IBOX-604-G2

Weighing less than 339 grams, the IBOX-604-G2 lightweight edge AI computer is designed for applications where space and weight are limited. Its dual GMSL-2 camera setup identifies people, vehicles, and other objects while estimating their distance in real time, providing proximity detection and situational awareness. The platform is powered by NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ and integrates a 3-axis accelerometer, CAN FD, and 10–60V DC input.

From Detection to Decision at the Edge

As transportation systems generate more data from cameras, sensors, and connected vehicles, processing information at the edge is becoming an increasingly important part of real-time operations. SINTRONES is applying this approach across road and rail transportation, supporting the shift from data collection and detection toward faster onboard analysis and decision-making.
