Thailand Business News

Thailand has seen an increase in foreign tourist arrivals over the past 10 months, with over 22 million visitors recorded. The country’s visa-free policy, along with increased flights, has contributed to the boost in numbers. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports expects this trend to continue, especially with the start of Europe’s cold season. The top five source countries for tourists in Thailand are Malaysia, China, South Korea, India, and Russia. Authorities believe that the visa-free policy will continue to attract visitors with high potential.

Currently, visitors from 64 countries can enter Thailand visa-free for 30 days, with the option to apply for an extension. The government recently extended visa exemptions for visitors from China, Kazakhstan, India, and Taiwan. However, recent incidents, like a shooting in a Bangkok shopping mall, might deter Chinese visitors. As a result, some companies are shifting their attention to Indian tourists to compensate for the decrease in Chinese tourists. In an effort to boost tourism during the winter months, the Thai Cabinet has also extended the temporary stay period for Russian tourists from 30 to 90 days.
