Airports of Thailand (AOT) plans to expand the low-cost terminal at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport to increase passenger capacity and boost tourism income for the country. The expansion will include the construction of 12 aircraft parking stands and 11 jet bridges, increasing the airport’s handling capacity from 30 million to 40 million passengers per year. A budget of THB36.8bn ($1.2bn) has been allocated for the project, which will be carried out in six segments and completed by 2029. The first segment involves a new concourse and third passenger terminal and the expansion of the northern concourse. Other segments include developing VVIP lounges and offices, constructing a flight operation area, renovating passenger terminal building 1, and carrying out environmental work.
